Floods Still Inundate 91 RT in South, East Jakarta This Morning

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta Regional Disaster Mitigation Agency (BPBD) Head of Data and Information Center, M Insaf, said that as many as 91 neighborhood units or RT across the capital were still inundated by floods as of 6 a.m. this morning.
The floods affected 70 RTs in Balekambang, Cililitan, Cawang, Bidara Cina, and Kampung Melayu subdistricts of East Jakarta and 21 RT in Pondok Pinang, East Pejaten, East Cilandak, Rawajati, Pengadegan, and West Tanjung subdistricts of South Jakarta.
“[Floods] in North Jakarta and West Jakarta have completely receded,” Insaf added in a statement, Monday, November 8.
According to him, the flooding was caused by an overflow from the Ciliwung River, Pesanggrahan River, and Krukut River following extreme rainfall. The height of the floodwater ranged from 40 to 200 centimeters. The highest floodwater was recorded in Pejaten Timur village and a number of areas in East Jakarta reaching 270 cm.
A total of 56 families of 182 people sought refugees in five locations, namely Alkhairiyah building in Pondok Pinang of South Jakarta; the tennis field and Al Hidayah Mosque in Cawang subdistrict of East Jakarta; Kampung Melayu subdistrict hall and Ittihadul Ikhwan in Kampung Melayu of East Jakarta.
