TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Financial Services Authority (OJK) recorded that in the first semester of 2021, the banking sector disbursed Rp1,439 trillion in loans.
"The financial services sector remains stable, with data as of July showing positive growth figures, such as banks intermediary functions and capital raising in the financial market," OJK board of commissioners chief Wimboh Santoso said in a written statement, Thursday, August 26.
However, in the same period there were settlements and installments paid by a number of top debtors, which amounted to Rp1,332 trillion. Therefore, statistically, July's bank loan position was in the positive zone, growing by 0.5 percent (yoy).
The credit growth was supported by a 2.4-percent growth in consumer loans and a 1.93 percent increase in MSME loans.
Credit to the export-oriented commodity sectors has begun to increase and is expected to continue growing along with climbing prices and demand from the United States and China.
Meanwhile, third-party funds or TPF still recorded a two-digit growth of 10.43 percent (yoy).
Wimboh added that the policy to lower interest rates has reached the credit sector, with lending rates cut down to "a fairly competitive level."
