TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police spokesperson Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono on Wednesday said the Youtuber that recently made headlines following a controversy, Muhammad Kace, has been apprehended after fleeing to a hideout in Bali.
“The suspect MK was arrested at his hideout,” said Rusdi in a press conference on August 25.
Kace was named suspect after he was reported to the police following a series of videos he published on his Youtube account that was considered to be blasphemy. He did not emerge in public after his video gained traction, which police said, justified the manhunt against him.
The police spokesperson said the Youtuber faces up to six years of imprisonment under Article 28 (2) and Article 45 a (2) and Criminal Code Article 156 a on religious blasphemy.
Muhammad Kace is currently transported by police from Bali to the Criminal Investigation Unit headquarters in Jakarta for further questioning.
