Youtuber Muhammad Kace Reported to Police Over Alleged Blasphemy

24 August 2021 22:21 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Indonesian National Police (Polri) criminal investigation unit (Bareskrim) is reportedly pursuing Muhammad Kace, a content creator on YouTube or Youtuber that recently grabbed widespread attention after allegedly committing blasphemy.

“Police investigators are currently hunting down the individual,” said Sr. Commissioner Ahmad Ramadhan, Polri spokesperson on August 24.

He elaborated that investigators will take Kace’s side of the story. The authorities managed to find and apprehend Muhammad Kace, whose status is currently as defendant. Ramadhan said that his members have questioned the plaintiff along with expert witnesses such as IT experts, linguistic experts, and religious experts.

The police used eyewitness testimony from experts and a screen recording of the video in question that was published by Muhammad Kace as pieces of evidence.
