Sandiaga Uno Agrees on Vaccination Card as Health Pass for Tourism Entry

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno supported the government’s plan to require the Covid-19 vaccination card that is integrated with the PeduliLindungi app for entry into various tourist destinations or creative economy centers. He opined that it could become a standard for society in carrying out activities.

“This (vaccination certificate) can be a solution for tourism and creative economy actors to survive in the midst of the pandemic and people can enjoy vacation safely,” said Sandiaga at the Weekly Press Briefing of the Tourism and Creative Economy Ministry on Monday, August 23.

The government planned to require vaccination certification in the tourism sector. To date, the vaccine card is only required for entry into public places such as shopping malls.

Sandiaga said the government guaranteed the availability of vaccines for all Indonesian people. However, the rollout is done in stages.

Even though the vaccination reaches 70-75 percent to achieve herd immunity, Sandiaga underlined, the implementation of strict health protocols in every destination and creative economy center will remain necessary. The ministry continued to expand the 'Indonesia Care' certification based on Cleanliness, Health, Safety, and Environment Sustainability or CHSE.

Sandiaga Uno also said if the Covid-19 trend in certain areas has decreased and the pandemic situation has been quite under control, tourist destinations and creative centers will likely be reopened gradually. “We will monitor and evaluate it later,” he concluded.
