Jakarta Logs 1,300 New Covid-19 Cases Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Jakarta provincial government recorded new 1,363 Covid-19 cases today, August 14, from testing 24,202 specimens.

"Based on the number of the tests, 18,151 people were PCR-tested to diagnose new cases with 1,363 positive results and 16,788 negative results," said Jakarta Health Agency Chief of Disease Control and Prevention, Dwi Oktavia, in a written statement on Saturday, August 14, 2021.

According to Dwi, Jakarta administration also performed antigen tests to 11,985 orang. The results are 313 positives and 11,672 negatives.

It led to the decrease of Covid-19 positivity rate to 8.1 percent in the past week. "While the total percentage of positive cases is 15 percent," said Dwi.

The data shows that the coronavirus transmission in the Indonesian capital is still high. It is still far from the standard set by the World Health Organization (WHO) at below five percent.

Until today, the total of Covid-19 cases in Jakarta reached 839,260. Dwi said that the active cases today increased by 115, adding the total of patients in hospital treatment or isolation to 9,568 people.

The total of recoveries reached 816,687 people, while the death toll reached 13,005. Jakarta recorded the recovery rate at 973 percent and death rate at 1.5 percent.
