TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Uno said he would give reward of a tourism package to health workers who battled the Covid-19 once the pandemic ends. He reasoned that the medical workers had shown their dedication for more than 1.5 years in fight against the novel coronavirus disease.
"They are the frontliners in mitigating Covid, so the economy and employment can revive," the minister said on his Twitter post. He conveyed that in a video conference with ASEAN Business Club chief, Tan Sri Dr. Munir.
Sandiaga plans to offer ASEAN tourism packages if the pandemic ends. “Once the pandemic subsides, we can give them time to rest and reward them with tour packages since they gave their all in facing the Covid-19 pandemic for more than 1.5 years,” he said.
The tour package for the health workers will be given through the travel corridor arrangement between Indonesia with Malaysia and Singapore. Through this partnership, he hopes that Indonesian tourism would revive and create new jobs. Sandi also suggested a joint tour promotion in ASEAN through a pilot project.
“At the moment, we have to start prioritizing collaboration to be able to rise in this trying time, by focusing and maximizing regional tourism potential first, before gradually opening it to all countries," Sandiaga Uno remarked.
