Jokowi Optimistic Herd Immunity to Be Reached in Jakarta, Bali by August

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi asked for the intensification of the Covid-19 vaccination in three provinces, namely West Java, Central Java, and Banten. He said that the percentage of the inoculation in the three provinces were still low.
"West Java 12 percent, Central Java 14 persent. If it's speeded up, Java will achieve the herd immunity. Hopefully in the end of August or mid September," the president said in a closed meeting of Emergency PPKM on Friday, which was broadcasted on Presidential Secretary YouTube channel on Saturday, July 17.
Currently, province with the highest vaccination rate is Bali with 81 percent. Followed by Jakarta with 72 percent, Jokowi said.
He even expressed his optmisim that the herd immunity will be reached in the two regions. To achieve the target, the president ordered the Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin to immediately use the available vaccine supplies.
In the national level, the daily Covid-19 vaccination has reached 2.3 million doses. The president is optimistic that the 5 million doses daily target can be achieved. "The key to finish this (Covid-19 pandemic) is vaccination," Jokowi remarked.
