Indonesia Daily Covid-19 Cases Rise by 7,725 on June 9

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The number of Covid-19 cases in Indonesia keeps increasing. According to the government data as of Wednesday, June 9, at 12:00 local time, there are 7,725 new cases detected in the last 24 hours.
With this addition, the country’s total tally reached 1,877,050 cases since the first cases were discovered on March 2, 2020.
Meanwhile, the number of people recovering from the new coronavirus increased by 5,883. Thus, the total recoveries hit 1,723,253. It is also reported today that 170 more patients died, bringing the total death toll related to the disease to 52,162.
Other than positive cases, the government is also monitoring 97,967 people who are suspected of being infected with the virus or known as suspected cases. Besides, there are 107,825 specimens being tested today, June 9.
This information is published by the Covid-19 Handling Task Force which is accessible via its official page Covid19.go.id. People are appealed to keep complying with the predetermined health protocols of wearing face masks, maintaining distance from each other, and washing hands regularly.
Previously reported, the task force informed that more than 11 million people in Indonesia have received their second dose of the coronavirus vaccine as of Monday afternoon. The government is targeting to inoculate 181.5 million citizens, or 70 percent of Indonesian population, to create herd immunity against the virus.
