COVID-19: Indonesia's Daily Positive Cases Rise 6,993

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia added 6,993 coronavirus disease (COVID-19) infections on Monday, taking the total tally since the start of the pandemic in March, 2020 to 1,863,031, according to data provided by the COVID-19 Handling Task Force.

The number of people recovering from the virus increased by 5,594 to reach 1,711,565, while the death toll climbed by 191 to 51,803.

The number of active cases, or patients receiving treatment and conducting self-isolation, increased by 1,208 to reach 99,663, while the tally of suspected COVID-19 cases touched 91,269.

The highest number of daily cases were recorded in West Java (1,790), followed by Central Java (1,451), and Jakarta (1,197).

Riau recorded the highest daily recoveries at 561, followed by Bangka Belitung (236), and Aceh (189).

The highest number of deaths were reported in Central Java at 28, followed by East Java (27), and Riau and West Java, which recorded 22 fatalities each.

Cumulatively, Jakarta recorded the highest number of confirmed COVID-19 cases at 436,332, followed by West Java (321,551), and Central Java (206,683).

Jakarta also registered the highest number of recoveries at 416,971, followed by West Java (296,198), and East Java (143,099).

East Java recorded the highest number of COVID-19 deaths at 11,505, followed by Central Java (9,416), and Jakarta (7,313).
