Ganip Warsito Replaces Doni Monardo as BNPB Chief

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo has officially inaugurated Lieutenant General Ganip Warsito as the new head of National Disaster Mitigation Agency (BNPB) at the State Palace on Tuesday replacing Doni Monardo.
Monardo is relieved from his position as he enters retirement on June 1, 2021, and is replaced by Ganip as the head position of BNPB is always filled by active Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) members.
The Presidential Secretariat deputy for apparatus administration, Nanik Purwanti, read out the Presidential Decree No.79P/2021 in the inauguration. President Jokowi guided the new BNPB head in his oath.
Strict health protocols were implemented during the inauguration with every participant of the event wearing their face masks. The event ended with the President congratulating Ganip Warsito, which was also attended by VP Ma’ruf Amin.
