Jakarta Covid-19 Vaccination Program Sees 70 Percent Progress

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta Health Agency’s disease prevention and control, Dwi Oktavia, on Sunday announced that the first and second phase of the city’s Covid-19 vaccination program has vaccinated 3,000,689 people or 70 percent of its initial goal.
The capital city’s first and second vaccination prioritized healthcare workers, elderly population, and workers in the field of public services.
“The total number of people vaccinated under dose 1 were 2,117,046 people (70.6 percent and the vaccine recipients for the second vaccination were 1,405,753 people (46.8 percent),” the Health Agency official wrote in a statement dated Sunday, May 9.
Covid-19 vaccinations for health workers started on January 14, 2021, has exceeded its initial goal by vaccinating 128,918 healthcare workers (114 percent) for the first dose while the second dose vaccinations gave shots to 113,180 healthcare workers.
Jakarta is currently commencing the second phase of vaccinations for public services workers which include market traders, journalists, athletes, military and police personnel, and more. 582,375 elderly people have received their first dose while there were only 484,444 who received the second Covid-19 vaccination doses in the program that was held since February 19.
