Singaporean Firm Files Civil Lawsuit against Soeharto's Children

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Singaporean company Mitora Pte. Ltd has filed a civil lawsuit against the Harapan Kita Foundation and former President Soeharto's children to the South Jakarta District Court. The defendants are Siti Hardianti Hastuti Rukmana, Bambang Trihatmojo, Siti Hediati Hariyadi, Sigit Hardjojudanto, and Siti Hutami Endang Adiningsih.
"The first trial took place on April 5, 2021, and the next trial will be on April 13," the South Jakarta District Court's PR chief, Suharno, told Tempo on Wednesday, April 7.
The case has four other defendants. They are: Soehardjo Soebardi, the administrators of the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum, the Central Jakarta Land Office, and the East Jakarta Land Office.
On the official website of the South Jakarta District Court, it is said that the plaintiff is demanding foreclosure for a number of land and buildings. First is a land on Jalan Taman Mini No.1, East Jakarta, approximately 20 hectares in size, along with the buildings and facilities standing on it—including the Purna Bhakti Pertiwi Museum and the Puri Jati Ayu building.
The second is for a plot of land and the building at Jalan Yusuf Adiwinata 14, Menteng, Central Jakarta, known as part of the Cendana area.
"[The plaintiff] is demanding joint-responsibility from the defendants to pay Rp84 billion liabilities and Rp500 billion for non-material damages," the indictment against Soeharto's children read.
