TNI Mobilizes Soldiers, Humanitarian Aid to East Nusa Tenggara

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesian Armed Forces (TNI) Commander Marshal Hadi Tjahjanto on Tuesday ordered the mobilization of soldiers and primary weaponry defense system (Alutsista) to the storm-stricken East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) and West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) in a humanitarian mission.
“As of today, I have ordered the dispatch of (military ship) KRI OWA-354 to assist the humanitarian aid from the Health Ministry and Social Affairs Ministry to the location of the disaster in NTT and NTB,” said the TNI Commander at the East Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma airstrip on April 6.
Apart from mobilizing the military ship, TNI has also sent helicopters and a Hercules C-130 craft to assist in the disaster mitigation effort and evacuate the victims and survivors.
Moreover, TNI will also mobilize two military battalions from the Kodam (Military Command) IX/Udayana Bali dan Kodam XIV/Hasanuddin Makassar to help with the humanitarian efforts.
