TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The National Police were set to assist the Jakarta Metro Police to guard the trial involving Rizieq Shihab who is charged with violating health protocols in Petamburan on Friday, March 26, 2021.
The National Police’s Head of the Public Information Bureau Brig. Gen. Rusdi Hartono said that his side will mobilize personnel if the regional police need it.
“Jakarta Metro Police have drawn up a security plan. The National Police HQ is ready to back up in case they need more power,” Rusdi confirmed to Tempo on Thursday, March 25, 2021.
The panel of judges at the East Jakarta District Court granted Rizieq's request that the trial be held offline. In the previous two trials, Rizieq underwent a virtual trial.
“In consideration that the panel of judges is given a limited time, and in order for the trial to run smoothly, the defendant's request for offline trial is granted,” said chairman of the panel of judges Suparman Nyompa at the East Jakarta District Court, Tuesday, March 23, 2021.
Rizieq Shihab reportedly undergoes three different cases in one trial. The first is for the health protocol violation charges by attracting crowds in Petamburan, Central Jakarta Pusat; the second for a similar case in Megamendung, Bogor; and the third for alleged violations of health protocols at Ummi Hospital, Bogor.
