Four More Indonesians Contract UK COVID-19 Variant: Govt

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Health Minister Budi Gunadi Sadikin announced four more people had contracted the UK COVID-19 variant, the B117.
“As for the new variant from London, aside from the previous two who have been identified from the results of the cooperation between the Health Ministry’s lab and BRIN, we have found four more confirmed cases,” Budi told a press conference on Monday, March 8, 2021.
Budi said the four were a resident of Palembang, identified on January 11; a resident of South Kalimantan, identified on January 6; a resident of Balikpapan, identified on February 12; and a resident of Medan, identified on January 28.
Budi said the government would subsequently conduct contact tracing for close contacts of the four cases.
The government, through Health Deputy Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono, first announced the entry of the B117 into the country on March 2.
