TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Central Jakarta city government was optimistic to create its eight subdistricts as Covid-19 green zone by March 2021. Green zone means the area is free from Covid-19 infections.
"Inshallah, Central Jakarta can be fully classified as a green zone next month," said Mayor Irwandi after the inauguration of 12,000 volunteers at the neighborhood unit level (RT) with the Regional Leaders Communication Forum (Forkompimda) in JIExpo Kemayoran, Thursday, February 18, 2021.
According to Irwandi, 83.06 percent of the total area of Central Jakarta were categorized as green zones, while the rest were yellow zones as reported by data of the city's Health Agency.
Irwandi hoped that efforts carried out by the city administration, the military, and the national police personnel, such as reviving the function of volunteers at the micro-level, the monitoring by the task force at the community unit (RW) level, and the monitoring by the police at the RW level, up to the regular inspections, could be supported by the public discipline in complying with the health protocols.
"We will keep suppressing transmission. We also ask the public to be disciplined [in applying the health protocols] during the enforcement of the micro-scale community activity restriction or Micro PPKM. Otherwise, the area will return to be yellow zones," the Mayor underlined.
Jakarta's number of Covid-19 cases started to show a downward trend. On Wednesday, February 17, 2021, the city recorded 1,445 new infections.
