Govt Explains National Covid-19 Vaccination Plan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Covid-19 mitigation and national economic recovery committee (PC-PEN Committee) Airlangga Hartarto on Friday explained the sequence of the national Covid-19 vaccination and groups that will be prioritized first.
"The first phase will be given to 1.3 million healthcare workers from January to April," he said in today’s virtual discussion, Jan. 8.
The medical workers will receive an official SMS notification from the government and must be replied back as a confirmation.
The second phase of the vaccination will subject officials and workers in public services that amount to 17.4 million people, while the third phase of the injection will be given to the elderly citizens that are predicted to amount to 21.5 million people.
However, Airlangga noted that people aged above 60 years old will have to wait until the test results that were given to that age group. Vaccinations will be given twice to ensure monitoring and tracking.
The fourth phase will be done to people aged between 18-59 years old that reside in Covid-19 'red zones' that amount to roughly 63.9 million people.
The last group that will receive the shots are people classified outside the aforementioned groups, roughly amounting to 77.4 million people. The total number of vaccine recipients will amount to 182 million Indonesian citizens.
