TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati calculated that the Covid-19 vaccination program will require funds of up to Rp73 trillion. The free immunization program, she added, will be funded by the State Budget.
“The question is, is the budget available? Yes, it must be provided, isn’t it? This is the priority. What if the budget is unavailable? It must be available,” said Sri in a video conference on Wednesday, January 6, 2020.
The Finance Ministry has been granted the authority to reallocate and refocus the 2021 State Budget, especially for vaccination programs. Based on President Jokowi's instruction, this year's State Budget would be focused on three sectors, namely Covid-19 handling, social assistance, and economic recovery.
Sri added that referring to the agreement with the House of Representatives (DPR), the government could adjust or reallocate the budget as long as it did not increase the deficit.
Apart from the 2021 State Budget, Sri Mulyani said the Covid-19 vaccination program would also use unspent budget (SILPA) from the 2020 State Budget at around Rp47 trillion.
