TEMPO.CO, JakartaJakarta set a new record high today, Dec. 23, with almost 2,000 cases. The city Health Agency reported 1,954 new Covid-19 infections.

The agency head Dwi Oktavia confirmed that 13,810 people were tested for PCR, and 1,552 of the results came back positive, while the other 402 cases were previous data from the last ten days that were recently reported by a military laboratory.

“As of today, 13,590 patients are still treated in hospitals and self-isolation,” said Dwi in a written statement.

The capital city’s total number of coronavirus infections now hit 167,842 with 151,122 recoveries and 3,130 fatalities. Thus, the recovery rate and the death rate are 90 percent and 1.9 percent, respectively.

Based on the city’s page, today’s number of recovery reached 1,431, and 15 deaths.

Over the past week, 95,805 people underwent PCR tests, above the WHO standard of 10,645 PCR tests per week. Besides, the total PCR test per one million population reached 184,682.

The city administration also recorded that the virus positivity rate was 10.4 percent in the same period, and 8.5 percent in total. However, both rates were still exceeded the standard set by WHO at no more than 5 percent.

The high number of Covid-19 cases was in line with the hike in the occupancy rate of isolation beds. Based on the latest data, 85 percent of isolation beds and 80 percent of ICU beds across the city have been occupied.
