Police Summoning Rizieq Shihab Blocked by Human Barricade in Petamburan

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - A small group of Petamburan residents on Wednesday had reportedly blocked the arrival of police personnel from the Jakarta Police that intended to summons Islam Defenders Front (FPI) leader Rizieq Shihab for questioning.
The masses made a human barricade at the access road heading to Rizieq’s house in Gang Paksi, Petamburan III, and also attempted to oust the police officers through verbal intimidation.
Metro Jaya Police spokesman Sr. Commissioner Yusri Yunus acknowledged that he had sent a number of his personnel to hand Rizieq the summons letter but has yet received an official report regarding this incident in the afternoon.
“We have no information yet but our members are still there,” said Yusri Yunus at the police headquarters on December 2.
Based on Tempo’s observation at the location, police personnel that arrived there were blocked by a group of people in a human barricade wearing all-white.
Confirmed about this incident, FPI’s lawyer, Aziz Yanuar, claimed that he was unaware of the organization’s members ousting the police in the area of Petamburan. He was also unsure whether Rizieq Shihab had received the police summons that is scheduled for Thursday.
