TransJakarta, LinkAja Boost the Use of Digital Payments Amid Pandemic

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - City-owned bus operator TransJakarta (PT Transportasi Jakarta) has partnered with LinkAja - a state-backed digital wallet - to further accommodate digital payments for the bus services through the Tije app. This is another step to prevent physical transactions amidst the COVID-19 pandemic.
TransJakarta’s services and development director Achmad Izzul Waro wrote in Wednesday’s, Oct. 7, press release that the company “openly welcomes this collaboration.”
He also wrote that this partnership aligns with the firm’s intention to support the Jakarta administration in realizing the “City 4.0” and “urban regeneration based on digital transaction systems.”

The digital payment will utilize the QR code technology developed by Japan’s Denso Wave, which can be accessed entirely in the Tije app through the “ticket and destination” menu.
