Jokowi Extends Condolences Over Jakarta Secretary's Passing

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko "Jokowi" Widodo expressed his condolences over the death of the Jakarta Regional Secretary Saefullah. He conveyed it through the Presidential Secretariat Head Heru Budi Hartono.
“On behalf of the President of the Republic of Indonesia, I offer my deep condolences for the passing of Bapak Saefullah, the Regional Secretary of Jakarta Province,” said Heru in a written statement on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
Heru said the Palace wished the deceased died in khusnul khotimah (with blessings ahead) and his good deeds accepted by God, and be given the best place beside God. The President also hoped the families and relatives would be given patience and strength.
“Throughout his life, he was a good friend and a good colleague,” said Heru.
Saefullah passed away at the Gatot Subroto Army Hospital, Central Jakarta, due to Covid-19. He was in a critical state before breathing his last at 12:55 this afternoon, September 16.
Born in Jakarta 56 years ago, Saefullah served as Jakarta Regional Secretary since July 11, 2014, from the era of Governor Jokowi, Basuki Tjahaja Purnama, until Anies Baswedan.
