TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Head of the Jakarta Transportation Agency (Dishub) Syafrin Liputo on Wednesday morning announced that the temporary bike lanes or pop-up bike lanes stretched from Central Jakarta’s Sudirman - Hotel Indonesia roundabout (Bundaran HI) will be made permanent. According to Syafrin, this plan will be realized this year.
“It’s in the preparation stage in terms of its execution,” said Syafrin Liputo on September 9.
Curently, the bike lane and public road are only separated by traffic cones while in a number of areas such as in the capital’s Semanggi, Tosari, and the BCA Tower, cyclists must share lanes with motorized vehicles.
Syafrin noted that there will be physical separators between the bike lanes and public highway, which he says “will guarantee the cyclist’s safety, security, and convenience.”
He also explained that the bike lanes will be made from concrete and will be painted green with additional white symbols. As for the bike lanes in areas that cross bus stops will be readjusted so that the two can exist without hampering one another.
