Indonesia Records 1,331 New Covid-19 Cases; Highest in East Java

TEMPO.CO, JakartaThe national Covid-19 mitigation task force reported a new record of the highest daily rise in Covid-19 cases today, June 18, with 1,331 new infections. This latest figure made the total of confirmed cases to 41,431.

East Java Province contributed the highest figure at 384 new positive cases.

“Followed by Jakarta with 173 new cases, South Sulawesi with 166 new cases, South Kalimantan with 118 new cases, and Bali with 66 new cases,” said the task force's spokesman Achmad Yurianto in a press conference broadcasted live via BNPB’s Youtube account on Thursday, June 18.

Meanwhile, seven provinces reported new confirmed cases at less than ten, while ten provinces noted zero new cases.

The seven provinces are East Kalimantan with 8 new cases; Riau 6 with new cases; West Sumatra, West Papua, and West Sulawesi with 5 cases; Lampung with 2 new cases; and Aceh with one new case.

As for the ten provinces that have no new Covid-19 cases include Bangka Belitung, Bengkulu, Yogyakarta, Jambi, West Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Riau Islands, Central Sulawesi, East Nusa Tenggara, and Gorontalo.
