TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - An eyewitness testimony revealed that a person in uniform was seen ejecting from an Indonesian Air Force jetfighter before crashing over a residential area in the Kampar Regency, Riau, on Monday, June 15.
According to the eyewitness, a loud bang was heard prior to seeing what seems to be an Indonesian Air Force pilot parachuting down from the skies.
“I assumed there was a military parachuting drill, but it turns out a jetfighter had crashed,” said the eyewitness who refused to be identified by state-news agency Antara on today.
The same individual further explained that a number of Indonesian air force personnel are already visible taking guard in the crash scene, which prevented locals to look closer into the crash site.
According to information gathered by Antara, the jet fighter that crashed over the residential area is a Hawk 209 TT piloted by Lieutenant Aprianto Ismail which departed from the Roesmin Nurjadin airbase in Pekanbaru, which has yet provided an official statement on the incident.
