TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State-owned railway service provider Kereta Commuter Indonesia (KCI) on Tuesday, June 9, recorded 279,737 people who had used the electric commuter line (KRL) services in the second-day businesses and office activities were allowed to reopen.
The number of passengers on Tuesday is a slight drop compared to Monday, the first day offices were reopened that saw KRL trains transporting a total of 300,029 passengers.
PT KCI president director Wiwik Widayanti in a written statement today said that queues had formed in a number of train stations during the morning and afternoon rush hours.
“This Wednesday morning, everything looked to be safe and controlled,” said Wiwik.
PT KCI is currently abiding by the maximum-capacity rules set by the government that limits the number of passengers to 35-40 percent of its total capacity which translates to 74 passengers for each railway coach to comply with physical distancing protocols.
Apart from maintaining distances, KRL passengers are also required to wear face shields and highly suggested to wear long-sleeve clothes.
