Tangerang PSBB, Plastic Booths to be Required for Market Vendors

6 May 2020 11:56 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Tangerang Mayor Arief R. Wirmansyah has warned that all shops and market vendors will be required to utilize plastic booths to prevent COVID-19 transmission.

“All stores and (market) vendors will be required to use plastic booths for security purposes and will be required to maintain distance between vendors," Arief said while conducting an inspection at Tangerang City's Anyar Market, Tuesday, May 5, 2020.

Previously, the Tangerang City Government has officially extended the enactment of the Large-Scale Social Restrictions (PSBB) policy, in the Tangerang City area, starting from Saturday, May 2, 2020.

“This warning applies to public venues where crowds would gather, such as markets and locations which sell takjil (snacks for break fasting) during Ramadan,” he said.

In addition, Arief has also directed officers to conduct traffic simulation on a number of roads heading to traditional market areas, including Jalan KH Soleh Ali towards Tangerang City Anyar Market.

“Some roads will be closed, (some) will be one-way streets, so that the traders selling on the road will be more conducive and orderly,” he remarked.

On the other hand, Arief has also called for the people of Tangerang to be more disciplined and follow directions from the government, in order to ensure that the PSBB would run smoothly.

“If the pandemic is to end quickly, the people must want to be regulated, otherwise we will discipline them,” he added.
