TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo received a gold-inlaid kris belonged to Prince Diponegoro from Dutch King Willem-Alexander and Queen Maxima Zorreguieta Cerruti at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java today, March 10.
As quoted from Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung’s Instagram account @pramonoanung, the dagger had been returned by the Dutch government on March 3, prior to the King and Queen’s visit.
“The kris of Prince Diponegoro had been returned by Dutch King Willem-Alexander to President Jokowi through Indonesian Ambassador in the Netherlands on March 3, 2020, and in today’s visit, March 10 at Bogor Palace, the kris is exhibited,” Pramono posted.
Foreign Affairs Minister Retno Marsudi, meanwhile, said the gold-inlaid dagger would be kept in a museum. However, she claimed to be in the dark about which museum to be chosen.
“Of course, it will be kept in a museum. The Culture Director-General will detail to which museum the kris will be placed,” said Retno at Bogor Presidential Palace, West Java, Tuesday, March 10.
