During the House of Representatives (DPR) Opening Trial of Trial Period II for Trial Year 2019-2020 in Senayan today, January 13, 2020, suggestions were made to form a special committee (Pansus) to resolve the Jiwasraya insurance case.
Inevitable interruptions occurred in what was the first plenary meeting of the year due to the magnitude of public interest in the Jiwasraya case, which has incurred IDR 13.7 trillion losses to the national finances.
"The Chairman and all Chief of Factions are able to urgently gather and hold a meeting to hear the hopes of the people who want the Special Committee [Pansus] to be formed so that we can solve this case," said Chief of the Great Indonesia Movement Party (Gerindra) Faction Andre Rosiade in his interruption of the meeting, which was led by Deputy Speaker of the DPR Sufmi Dasco Ahmad on Monday, January 13, 2020.
According to Andre, now is the time to establish a special committee because the Jiwasraya case is becoming more harmful to the public compared to the Century Bank case.
"My hope is for the Chief and all members of Indonesia's DPR to prioritize the Jiwasraya scandal, which is bigger than the Century scandal; that is my hope and of course, the hope of all the Indonesian people that have eagerly waited for our Plenary Meeting today," said Andre.
Meanwhile, DPR member from the Prosperous Justice Party (PKS) Amin AK, demanded the police to resolve the case in addition to encouraging the establishment of the Pansus.
Amin has not only demanded the formation of a special committee to tackle the case of Jiwasraya, he also asked for the formation of other special committees in order to unravel all the scandals involving other State Owned Enterprises (BUMN).
"I agree with the formation of a Pansus Jiwasraya, but it should only for Jiwasraya, I agree with the formation of a Pansus for ASABRI, Garuda, and others," said Amin.
