Heavy Machinery Demolishes Collapsed Building in Slipi

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The demolition of the collapsed building on Jalan Brigjen Katamso, Slipi, West Jakarta continues after a short cease in operation on early Tuesday morning, 7th of January 2020.

The on duty Commissioned Officer of West Jakarta’s Fire Brigade, Sukirman, has said that the demolition process is continued at 08:30 AM local time. “We have managed to do the evacuation process up to the second floor,” said Sukirman, on Tuesday, 7th of January 2020.

Section Chief of the Fire Brigade Rescue and Service Operation Division (Gulkarmat), Eko Sumarno, has stated that the demolition of the collapsed building in Slipi is done with the use of a welding device and steel cutting scissors. Aside from the rescue team’s involvement, the demolition of this 4 storied building is aided by construction company, Wahana Info Nusa, through the mobilization of two beko heavy machineries. On top of that, further support is provided by the two units of rescue car, as well as a pump, ready on the location.

The 4 storied building, located on Jalan Brigjen Katamso Kota Bambu Selatan, Palmerah, West Jakarta, initially collapsed on Monday morning, yesterday. The collapse occurred around 09:15 AM local time. The building has now sunken in on itself, as the top floor down to the second floor has caved in.

On the other hand, the ground floor of the building that had previously been used as the minimarket area, has not entirely collapsed. A number of vehicles have been obstructed by the falling debris.

As many as 11 people were injured from the collapse of the building and was fortunately evacuated to two hospitals, namely Tarakan Hospital as well as Jakarta Pelni Hospital.

From the data gathered, three individuals were rushed to Tarakan Hospital’s Emergency Unit. They are, firstly, Febriani (27), a resident of Tanjung Duren Raya Number 2 RT 10/2 Grogol Petamburan, West Jakarta. Secondly, Muhammad Iqbal (37), a resident of Jalan Mangga IV, RT 001/02, Cipulir, Kebayoran Lama, South Jakarta. As well as, Ervan Juliansyah (52), a resident of Kampung Gaga, Jalan Amil Abas Number 92 RT 01 RW 01, South Larangan, Tangerang.

According to a member of the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas), the collapse of the building located on Jalan Brigjen Katamso Kota Bambu Selatan, Palmerah, Slipi has been caused by the weathering of the building by the rainwater reservoir on the top floor.
