SEA Games: Indonesia Collects 12 Golds, Ranks Fourth

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Indonesia's national team has temporarily collected at least 12 gold medals, 20 silver medals, and 18 bronze medals at the 2019 Southeast Asia (SEA) Games / SEA Games competition but stays at fourth in the medal tally.  

The host country the Philippines ranked as the top medal collector at the biennial multi-sport event with 47 gold medals, 31 silver medals, and 13 bronze medals. It was followed by Vietnam at the second-best, and Malaysia at the third-best of the medal tally.

On the third day, Indonesia's contingent collected six gold, nine silver, and six bronze medals from various sports disciplines, including Wushu, shooting, Pencak Silat martial arts, weightlifting, and gymnastics.

Despite grieving on the death of his father, Indonesia's Wushu athlete, Edgar Xavier Marvelo managed to maintain a strong performance by snatching two gold medals in individual Taolu Daoshu/Goshu number and group Dullian number.

In the shooting category, a gold medal was added by Vidya Rafika in the women's 10M RF number. She had succeed in subduing two of Singapore's athletes, Xiu Yi and Adele Qian Xiu.

In the Pecak Silat martial arts category, Indonesia's female athlete Puspa Arum Sari managed to add the first gold medal during the tournament at the Subic Bay Exhibition.

Last month, Indonesia's President Joko Widodo appealed to the athletes to grant the country the second-best medal tally of the multi-sport event from November 30 to December 11.

"I want us to emerge as the top two at the Philippines 30th SEA Games," President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) said in his speech, delivered at a ceremony releasing the Indonesian contingent at the Presidential Palace in Bogor, West Java.

At the 2017 SEA Games in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, Indonesia's contingent managed to collect 38 gold medals.

Below is the list of Indonesia's medal tally on the third day of the 2019 SEA Games:

Gold medal:

1. Wushu - Men’s Daoshu Gunshu Combine (Edgar Xavier Marvelo);

2. Wushu - Men’s Duilian (Edgar Xavier Marvelo, Harris Horatius, and Seraf Naro Siregar);

3. Shooting - Women’s 10m Air Rifle (Fidia Rafika);

4. Pencak Silat - Women’s Single (Puspa Arum Sari);

5. Weightlifting - Men’s 67 kg (Deni);

6. Artistic Gymnastics - Women’s Vault (Rifda Irfanaluthfi);

Silver medal:

1. Wushu - Men’s Nanquan (Haris Horatius);

2. Bowling - Women’s Single (Tanya Roumimper);

3. Wushu - Men’s Sanda 48 kg (Ade Permana);

4. Wushu - Men’s Sanda 52 kg (Laksamana Pandu Pratama);

5. Wushu - Men’s Sanda 56 kg (Yusuf Widiyanto);

6. Chess - Women’s Rapid (Ummi Fisabilillah);

7. Badminton- Women’s Team (Gregoria Mariska, et al);

8. Ice Skating - Men’s Short Track Speed 500 m (Steavanus Wihardja);

9. Ice Skating - Women’s Short Track Speed 3000 m Relay (Nur Indah Ratu, et al);

Bronze medal:

1. Weightlifting - Women’s 59 kg (Putri Aulia Indriani);

2. Weightlifting - Women’s 64 kg (Bernadicta Study);

3. Wushu - Men’s Sanda 65 kg (Abdul Haris Sofyan);

4. Wushu - Women’s Sanda 48 kg (Rosalina Simanjuntak);

5. Chess - Women’s Rapid (Irene Kharisma Sukandar);

6. Artistic Gymnastics - Men’s Still Rings (Dwi Samsul Arifin).
