European Union Calls for Indonesian Youths on Climate Change

7 October 2019 07:12 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The delegation of the European Union (EU) to Indonesia calls on Indonesian youths to commit and place its utmost care for the climate change that is happening globally, especially for Indonesia.

Charles Michel-Geurts, Chargé d'affaires a.i. of the European Union Delegation to Indonesia says in the EU climate diplomacy week in Jakarta on Sunday, that the global youth movement’s climate strike is evident enough of the public’s awareness on the matter.

He argues that the younger generation’s existence is more than critical in influencing the public and campaigning for concerns for climate change.

“Their voices are heeded in demanding governments, corporations, and the public in general to take action,” he said.

In the diplomacy week held from September 23 to October 6th, he made it clear that the European Union itself completely supports youths who are aware and care for its environment and calls for innovative programs on climate practiced by the younger generation.
