Jokowi Attends Significant PDIP Meeting Today

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo (Jokowi) attends the national work meeting (Rakernas) of the Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDIP) held at the party’s headquarters in Central Jakarta, today.
The president stepped off the presidential vehicle which was surrounded by his presidential security detail (Paspampres) at 10:30 Western Indonesia Time (WIB).
The president’s arrival was welcomed by the PDIP General Secretary Hasto Kristiyanto and politician Pramono Anung prior to entering the headquarters.

Up until 11:30, the Jokowi’s vehicle could be seen still parked at the location. The meeting was off limits for journalists and according to Hasto, is mainly to discuss several internal agendas.
“PDIP understands that politics need a place for contemplation to better deliver ideas that are clear and shows more dedication for Indonesia and its people,” said Hasto in a press release today.
Hasto said that today’s Rakernas is similar to the Rakernas III held in Bali when PDIP Chairwoman Megawati Soekarnoputri made the decision to nominate Jokowi again as a presidential candidate representing the party.
