Jakartans Warned of Flood as Katulampa Dam on Alert Level 2

TEMPO.CO, Bogor - Jakarta Regional Disaster Management Agency (BPBD) announced Bogor’s Katulampa Dam was on high alert level 2 on late Tuesday, April 23. The heavy pouring rain in Bogor and its vicinity area caused the water level at the dam jumped to 170 centimeters at 21:00 local times.
The agency warned the public to be aware and anticipate the impending flood from the dam. “Within the next six to nine hours, waters will arrive in Manggarai flood gate,” the agency said in an official statement, Tuesday evening, April 23.

Regions that will be affected are Srengseng Sawah, Rawajati, Pengadegan, Cikoko, Pejaten Timur, Kebon Baru, Bukit Duri. Kemudian Balekambang, Cililitan, Cawang, Bidara Cina, and Kampung Melayu.
The BPBD said it had spread the information to all sub-district heads and people living in the vicinity of the river via multiple platforms, such as Twitter, Whatsapp, Facebook, and its website as well.
The water level in Katulampa Dam strongly increased since Tuesday afternoon from 30 centimeters at 18:00 to 120 centimeters at 18:46 local times. The level declined to 90 centimeters at 20:00, yet it significantly increased to 150 centimeters at 23:45 local times.
