TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Amien Rais, an advisory board member of the Prabowo Subianto-Sandiaga Uno campaign team, accused the General Election Commission (KPU) of having a mission to win incumbent candidate Joko “Jokowi” Widodo in the 2019 presidential election.
Amien made the statement after a press conference with foreign media held by the campaign team on the final voter list (DPT) of the 2019 general elections at Ayana Midplaza Hotel, Jakarta, on Monday, March 1.
“Logically speaking, in my opinion, from day one, [winning Jokowi] is KPU’s main task. This is a political creature made by the incumbent so he [Jokowi] can be re-elected,” said Amien Rais.
Hence, Amien considered it as a normal response should the opposition camp continue to question the DPT so as to prevent potential election fraud, and that findings revealed by the campaign team’s information technology experts on the issue are undisputable.
“So I’m sorry, it is normal for a citizen having suspicions against leaders,” said the former speaker of the People’s Consultative Assembly (MPR).

Amien Rais, who is also the National Mandate Party (PAN) honorary council chairman, also made allegations against the Home Ministry's Population and Civil Registry Directorate General (Dukcapil) for having a certain mission.
Meanwhile, Dukcapil director-general Zudan Arif Fakhrulloh questioned Amien Rais’ remarks and asked the latter to read the KPU regulation No. 11/2018, especially Article 7 concerning DPT arrangement.
“Pak Amien, just prove it. He must have read the KPU Regulation 11/2018 Article 7 to know the position of Dukcapil in arranging DPT,” said Zudan when asked for confirmation on Monday, April 1.
