TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta Health Agency has mapped the areas in the capital that were most affected by dengue fever (DBD). The agency said there were five districts in West, East and South Jakarta that recorded the highest DBD cases.
“To March 3, the areas with the highest cases of dengue fever are Kalideres, Pasar Rebo, Cipayung, Matraman, and Jagakarsa. We update the data once a week,” said Jakarta Health Agency head Widyastuti today in her office, Central Jakarta.
The incidence rate of dengue fever in Kalideres was recorded at 58.21 per one thousand residents, Pasar Rebo (50.5), Cipayung (50.41), Matraman (44.15), and Jagakarsa (41.67).
Additionally, the agency found that as many as 84 community units (RW) across Jakarta are the most vulnerable to dengue fever: 3 RW in Central Jakarta, 7 RW in North Jakarta, 38 RW in West Jakarta, 11 RW in South Jakarta, and 25 RW in East Jakarta, where the incident occurred three times a week.

Widyastuti mentioned that up to February 2019, the total number of dengue fever patients reached 1,354, up from January’s 989 people. “Throughout January until March 2, there were 2,282 cases of dengue fever and one death,” she added.
The agency estimated the figure would keep climbing till the rainy season ends or at the end of March due to the high humidity level in the capital’s five areas.
Therefore, Widyastuti appealed to Jakartans to regularly carry out the mosquito breeding site eradication movement (PSN) and the one house one jumantik (mosquito larvae controller) drive to combat dengue fever.
