Keraton Yogyakarta to Hold Exhibition of Ancient Manuscripts

TEMPO.CO, Yogyakarta - The Kraton Ngayogyakarta Hadiningrat or the Palace of Yogyakarta will hold an event to commemorate the 30-year anniversary of the reign of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, which falls on March 7, 2019.
The event, which is locally known as Tingalan Jumenengan Dalem, a ceremony to commemorate the sultan’s coronation, will take place on March 5 until April 7.
Gusti Kanjeng Ratu (GKR) Hayu, the fourth daughter of Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono X, said that one of the agendas was an exhibition of the palace's ancient manuscripts.
The exhibition opens to the public starting 09:00 a.m local time at Kagungan Dalem Bangsal Pagelaran Keraton on March 7 to April 7.

“This will be the peak event of Tingalan Jumenengan Dalem,” said GKR Hayu on Friday, February 8, adding that the printed manuscripts were part of the palace’s collection inherited from Sri Sultan Hamengku Buwono V.
Additionally, several manuscripts that have been kept in the British Library for 207 years will be returned to Yogyakarta in a digitized version and showcased during the exhibition.
