Jokowi Asks Habibie Suggestion on Human Resources Development

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Joko Widodo or Jokowi admitted to having asked suggestions to the third Indonesian President B. J. Habibie regarding human resources development. The President contacted Habibie through a video conference in Presidential Lounge, Jakarta, Monday, January 14.
Jokowi said the government currently focuses on the massive development of human resources, and thus Habibie gave many inputs, particularly about education and civilization.
“Habibie points out on the education that should be seriously concerned, especially related to vocation and training, as well as civilization. Education and civilization,” Jokowi noted.
According to Jokowi, the civilization in question is related to the culture of productivity, discipline, and hard work. Habibie, he added, conveyed that variety of cultures in Indonesia must be a power source.
Earlier, Jokowi stressed that the focus of 2019 State Budget or APBN is on the quality development of human resources. The government increased the budget for health and education sector to Rp125 trillion and Rp495 trillion from previously set at Rp110 trillion and Rp440 trillion in 2018, respectively.
