TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - President Director of Bukalapak Fajrin Rasyid, claimed that the number of online transaction in the Bukalapak e-commerce platform was significantly increased during the national online shopping day (Harbolnas) of December 12, 2018."Honestly, [transaction number] significantly increased during Harbolnas. We cannot report the exact number. We will publish it next week at the earliest," Fajrin said following the opening of the Bukalapak Research and Development Center in Bandung on Friday, December 14, 2018.
Fajrin said that Bukalapak has targeted that the transaction value for this year's Harbolnas should exceed IDR 1.6 trillion. "The target is quadrupled compared to last year. The target [this year] is IDR 1.6 trillion. Last year it was around IDR 400 million, and we achieved it," Fajrin said.
Fajrin said that Bukalapak set the target based on a number of considerations. "We have certain [market] penetration. Second, we provide additional features previously not available. Now we have Buka Mall, Buka Motor, Buka Emas, Buka Reksa, and many more. So we can provide more services to customers. In addition, more people are shopping online," Fajrin explained.
Fajrin added that Harbolnas will increase the number of Indonesians shopping online. Just a month ago before the Harbonas, it was recorded that 18 percent of Indonesians favour online shopping. "We have not acquired the actual number because [Harbolnas] had just finished. Hopefully it can increase. I have a feeling that we can reach 20 percent by the end of the year," Fajrin stated.
Fajrin said that before Harbolnas, the average transaction value in Bukapalak reaches up to over IDR 4 trillion. "The numbers are still being confirmed. That was the total transaction both online and offline. Offline transactions provide major contribution, maybe around a quarter [of the total value]," Fajrin explained.
Fajrin further explained that offline transactions were facilitated through Bukalapak partners such as local vendors. The partnership program converts traditional sidewalk vendors to partners capable of facilitating online transactions in Bukalapak.
