TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Judicial Commission (KY) regrets the recent arrest of three Medan District Court (PN) judges in a sting operation (OTT) conducted by the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK). One of the men arrested is Medan District Court’s Deputy Chief Wahyu Prasetyo Wibowo.
“KY offers the deepest regret upon the arrest and recurring sting operation that involves a judge,” said KY spokesman Farid Wajd in Jakarta on Tuesday, August 28.
According to Farid, roughly around three years ago, the KY reminded its members of the importance of a fundamental change in the integrity aspect. “But that warning was not wholly heard and ended with a sting operation at the judicial environment,” he said.
Despite the arrest implicating three judges, Farid says that the judicial commission is confident that the members of Indonesia’s justice institution still bear massive energy to rise and improve the country’s court system.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court (MA) spokesman Suhadi said that KPK’s sting operation is related to a case involving corruption and confirmed that it had no connection with the blasphemy case implicating defendant Meiliana that was handled by judge Wahyu, who sentenced Meiliana to 18 months jail time.
