MRT train sets arrived in Jakarta

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Jakarta MRT phase I line, running between Lebak Bulus and Hotel Indonesia Roundabout stations, is ready to operate in March 2019.

PT MRT Jakarta operations director Agung Wicaksono said the company and the Jakarta government continue to discuss about the tariffs. MRT Jakarta, he added, has also completed the 2018 ridership survey 2018 that will be used as a basis to determine ticket rates.

"We have been conducting the ridership survey since October last year. The first analysis is completed, from which we have drafted tariff scenarios," Agung said here on Thursday.

The scenarios draw up fares starting from Rp8,500, Rp10,000, and Rp15,000 per passenger for one trip. These, however, are not final.

Agung said that the tariff is not the public's main concern, based on the survey.

"Passengers are more concerned about travel speed, reliability, comfort, and access. These are our concerns as well," he said.
