TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - Today, Wednesday, April 4, two sets of trains or twelve mass rapid transit (MRT) have arrived at Tanjung Priok Port, Jakarta, at around 06:30 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).
Corporate Secretary Division Head of PT MRT Jakarta Tubagus Hikmatullah said the two MRT trains are still waiting to be unloaded from the cargo ships on Thursday, April 5.
“After unloaded, it will be sent directly using a multi-axle trailer to Depo Lebak Bulus," Hikmatullah said on Wednesday, April 4.
Hikmatullah said, the delivery from Tanjung Priok to Lebak Bulus will take place on 6 to 8 April from 22:00 until 05:00 every day. The scheme is used to avoid and reduce the impact of traffic density caused by the delivery of trains.
Previously, Hikmatullah said PT MRT has been testing and simulating the delivery since February. Besides, the MRT Jakarta is a new train made by Nippon Sharyo trains company, Japan.
The next fourteen series will be delivered by the end of June. By the end of October, sixteen sets will arrive in Jakarta. “The trains will then be prepared to follow a series of the trial run process,” he said.
The plan, in phase I, PT MRT Jakarta will prepare sixteen sets. With details, the fourteen sets will be operated and the two sets will be put on hold as a backup. MRT Jakarta is scheduled to operate at 05:00-24:00 with a five-minute intercity timeframe during the peak hours.
