TEMPO.CO, Bandar Lampung - Bandar Lampung regional government decided to allow local officials to use government-owned vehicles to be used during Eid al-Fitr. However, the vehicles can only be used for trips around the city, not for long-range trips.

"Official vehicles may be used, but only within the territory of Bandar Lampung, not out of town," said Bandar Lampung Mayor Herman H. N. on Monday, July 4, 2016.

The policy was made in an attempt to provide maintenance for the vehicles without having to spend much of the regional budget.

"If [officials] want to use [official vehicles], they must use their own money, the government will not pay for their fuel," Herman said.

Herman added that officials will be responsible for any damages that occurred to the vehicle.

"The government will not pay for any damages occurred outside official work hours, if something happened, respective officials must pay for it," Herman said.
