TEMPO.CO, Pekanbaru - Riau Election Commission (KPU) has confirmed candidate pair of Riau Governor and Deputy Governor Anas Maamun-Arsyadjuliandi Rahcmana as the winner of the second round of the election.
Following the ruling, Anas-Arsyad was officially appointed Riau Governor and Deputy Governor for the period of 2013-2018. The decision was made during a plenary meeting of the recapitulation of the counting of Riau election yesterday at Labersa Hotel, Kampar, Riau.
Anas-Arsyad, who was supported by Golkar Party, won most votes: 1,332,327 votes or 60.75 percent. In the meantime their rival Herman Abdullah-AgusWidayat, who was supported by Gerindra Party and 11 coalitions of parties, gained 854,240 votes or 39.25 percent.
"The result of the plenary meeting has decided Anas Maampun as the governor and Arsyadjuliandi Rachman as Deputy Governor of Riau," said chairman of Riau KPU Tengku Edi Sabli yesterday.
Edi acknowledged that voters turnout during the round of the election has dropped into just 55.50 percent or 2,220,154 votes, as opposed to the first round which reached 61.37 percent. As for the people who refrained from voting, it reached 44.50 percent out of 4,000,459 registered voters.
