TEMPO.CO, Jakarta-Transportation Minister Ignasius Jonan will enforce yellow status in strategic airports and ports throughout Eid to monitor bomb threats following the bomb blast in Ataturk Airport, Turkey.
“We saw a terrorist attack in Ataturk Airport, Turkey, so we will also improve the security status in [Indonesia's] airports to yellow status. If everything is fine, then the status will be downgraded to green,” Jonan said Wednesday, June 29, 2016.
A suicide bomb exploded in Ataturk Airport, Turkey on Tuesday evening, local time. According to Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim, 36 people died and 150 people injured. The Islamic State is suspected to be the mastermind behind the tragic incident.
Yellow status means alert. Jonan added that yellow status in ports will only apply for ports with passenger's terminals. If no passenger's terminals, yellow status or security additional will not be necessary.
Jonan did not mention the details on the number of security personnel to be deployed.
