Tax DG Ensures Taxpayers' Confidentiality over Prepopulated Scheme

27 October 2023 22:57 WIB

TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - The Expert Staff on Regulation and Legal Enforcement of the Taxes DG Iwan Djuniardi stated that the the agency will ensure the data confidentiality of taxpayers will remain secure when the prepopulated scheme is implemented.

The core tax system, set to launch in July 2024, will implement the prepopulated scheme with an automated fill for the annual tax return (SPT) forms. Thus, taxpayers are only expected to confirm the data without manually filling out the forms.

When asked about data confidentiality, Iwan explained that the Taxes DG employs a tight and certified data government. In 2016, the Taxe DG had to fulfill several requirements set by the OECD to gain the permit of  automatic exchange of information (AEoI).

"They assessed our system including data management, whether or not it is secure," he said during a media gathering in Lombok last Wednesday. "The assessors stated that our system is trusted." This year, the OECD will conduct a re-assessment to ensure that the data stored in the Tax DG's system is strong and secure.

Relating to the information and technology department, the infrastructure management of the Taxes DG conducts biennial certification of ISO 27001. "So far, we have no data breaches, and we're not planning to," he said.
