TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - On Wednesday evening, the recently launched high-speed train Whoosh halted to a stop during its operational hours. The Jakarta-Bandung High-Speed Train (KCJB) detected a disruption on its track through Whoosh's remote censor.
General Manager Corporate Secretary of KCIC Eva Chairunisa explained that the Whoosh High-Speed Train from Halim-Tegalluar route was stopped briefly for 10 minutes on Wednesday evening, October 4, 2023, at 05:53 p.m. WIB in kilometer 58+700 between Karawang-Padalarang.
"The [temporary halt] was conducted to check the railway since the Operation Control Center detected a foreign object in the middle of the rail," she said in a brief message to Tempo yesterday.
Eva informed that the train reduced speed gradually before stopping smoothly to avoid disrupting the passengers' comfort. This, Eva said, proves the system quality of Whoosh High-Speed Train.
A little lamb was the cause for the sudden stop, as it snuck in through a gap in the fence. "KCJB [Whoosh] continued its trip after the lamb was chased away," Eva said in a brief message to Tempo today.
The disruption was detected by a number of installed sensors and monitored through the Operation Control Center. As a follow-up personnel was deployed to check the location. "The train was cleared to resume its operation after 10 minutes," Eva said.
Furthermore, Eva mentioned that Whoosh High-Speed Train implements a layered security system through a centralized facility and infrastructure system. Disaster-detection sensors and security cameras are also installed at various points along the railways.
"We immediately socialized surrounding residents to control their livestock," Eva said today.
KCIC also installed barbed-wire fences along the train routes. Around 500 security personnel from BUJT and an additional 250 military personnel are deployed to patrol along the routes.
