TNI Examine US Military Pilot After Airspace Violation

TEMPO.CO, Balikpapan-The Air Force (AU) still examine pilot of a small Propeller First Engine Cessna aircraft with flight number N96706, Lt. Col. James Patrick Murphy (US Navy/US Navy Airmen).
“The pilot is secured in Tarakan air base and is treated well and [on Tuesday] we are continuing the examination," said Military Area Command (Kapendam) VI/Mulawarman, Information Chief Col. Inf Andi Gunawan in Balikpapan on Tuesday, November 10.
Plane rental company Aircraft Guarantee as the aircraft owner is reluctant to confirm relevant flight permits from the Philippines to Singapore using the emergency route, he said.
"If the pilot was avoiding bad weather as admitted by the pilot during the examination this afternoon," said Andi.
Between the US Embassy and the airline company Aircraft Guarantee have not been able to confirm the infringement route violation, he said.
"Regarding the status of the pilot, as a member of the US military is still waiting for the Security Clearance checks handled by the TNI Headquarters. The results will be delivered to the Air Force Headquarters to the Air Force Base in to Tarakan," said Andi.
Exit permit process is submitted by the United States Embassy to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the result is still pending, he said.
"Last night after undergoing examination, pilot Murphy until 7:45 pm was escorted by the AU Provost to a temporary resting place at the Tarakan Air Force dorm with strict supervision by the military," said Andi.
