TEMPO.CO, Jakarta - State leaders attending the G20 Summit in Australia today were scheduled to discuss a resolution between Western leaders and Russian President Vladimir Putin, following new reports of Russian troops entering eastern Ukraine.

Ukraine accused Russia on Thursday of sending troops and weapons to help separatists in eastern Ukraine in an attempt to launch a new attack in a conflict that has killed more than 4,000 people. The United States has warned Russia that heavier sanctions may be imposed on the country due to the military aggression.

In Brisbane, Obama will discuss the conflict in Ukraine with other leaders, including German Chancellor Angela Merkel, French President Francois Hollande and British Prime Minister David Cameron.

“They’ve been key toward sending a shared message to the Russians and the Ukrainian government, U.S. Deputy National Security Advisor Ben Rhodes said, as quoted by Reuters on Friday, November 14, 2014.

In terms of economic issues, Australia, as host, will continue pushing its growth agenda despite growing security concerns. Canberra is pushing for an increase in global growth targets of two percent by 2018 to create millions of jobs.
